Leaco Rural Telephone Cooperative Joins TLSN as 41st Member

Texas Lone Star Network is proud to announce Leaco Rural Telephone Cooperative has joined TLSN as its 41stMember.  Leaco has already built a direct fiber connection into the TLSN Backbone Network.  TLSN is very excited to welcome Sid Applin, LEACO CEO/General Manager and all his team to the TLSN family.    We look forward to a mutually beneficial business relationship for many years to come.

Leaco Rural Telephone Cooperative, Inc. is a telecommunications company providing high-quality products and services to customers in Southeast New Mexico and a small section of West Texas.  Leaco provides broadband, land line, and cellular telephone service with a particular emphasis towards serving our rural communities’ communication needs.

“Leaco” has been in existence since 1954, and it was born from true necessity.  Southeastern New Mexico residents deserved to have communication services then, and they deserve services now.

Our territory still looks like the ‘Wild West’ to some, with over 5,241 square miles of geographically diverse terrain.  Leaco’s five exchanges are within the three counties of Lea, Eddy and Chaves.  However that ‘Wild West’ generates most of the state of New Mexico’s revenue, including incredible amounts of oil and gas production, and large agricultural communities made up of ranchers and farmers who contribute to the US food supplies.  Our service area also boasts a uranium enrichment facility, several mining facilities, and nuclear waste depositories.  Our entire service area is dedicated to literally serving Americans with life-sustaining resources and services.

Leaco’s mission is to provide those businesses and individuals who work in these industries with the necessary communication tools in order to keep our area economically competitive.  For us, customer service is more than a buzz word; it is our way of doing business.  We are neighbors helping neighbors be successful.

Leaco engaged Sid Applin as CEO/General Manager in October of 2013.  Sid brings 36 years of experience to Leaco, in all areas of the telecommunications industry.

Leaco employs 51 full-time employees, all who live, raise families, and volunteer in our service area.  Those employees volunteer close to 1000 hours per year within their communities in areas of economic development, civic organizations, volunteering for shelters, mentoring children and much more.  Leaco Headquarters resides in Hobbs, NM.  Hobbs has a population of about 45,000 residents and growing.
